Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist, and even a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. and is a television anchor. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell was hired by the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She then became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began to report on the White House. In 1988, she became the chief congressional reporter. Then she was named chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest at times on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. She also served as a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the former chairman for Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work to defend First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. She reported on a number of noteworthy events that included arms control tax reforms to the budget and also the Iran Contra scandal. She also went to various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
